It’s been a while. I’ve been distracted. (Ooh! Shiny!) There’s really nothing right now to stop me from writing. It didn’t take up much time when I was dedicated to it. The difference now: will. The drive dried up between moving, looking for a job and getting married. With two of three done, I’m trying to focus more.

Jobs prove elusive, but that’s not for lack of trying. Michigan’s harsh right now. Recently, I’ve begun to entertain freelance writing work. Gas isn’t getting any cheaper and my savings account isn’t getting any bigger. I like eating and paying my fair share into the household. Plus, I need to get out more.

In the “get out more” vein, I’ve also joined a couple of meetup groups. The first is for writers. The second caters to job seekers. I expect to get spurs of inspiration from the former. I’m not sure how helpful the latter will be, given that journalism is such a specialized field. I’ll know more about both after the first-to-me meetings in early June.
